South Dakota Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision to Meet November 12th
(Pierre) - The South Dakota Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision will hold its first meeting November 12th in Pierre.
The public meeting is scheduled for the Solem Public Safety Center Building Community Conference Room beginning at 10 AM that day.
In 2001, the state legislature passed a bill that authorized South Dakota to participate in a revised interstate compact for adult probationers and parolees that was binding upon the participation of at least 35 states. Under the compact, an adult on probation or parole from one state may be approved to move to another state and be supervised there.
The revised compact required each state to create a state council to develop policies concerning the compact and oversee the state's participation in compact activities. The compact requires the state council to be made up of representatives from the legislative, judicial and executive branches of government, victim's groups and compact administrators.
The state council is made up of the following:
Ed Ligtenberg, Executive Director of the Board of Pardons and Paroles;
Dallas Johnson, Deputy State Court Administrator;
The Honorable Jim Tucker, Judge, Third Circuit Court;
Rep. J.P. Duniphan, R-Rapid City;
Jeff Bloomberg, Secretary of Corrections;
RoAnn Redlin, SD Coalition Against Domestic Violence; and
Brian Zeeb, Division of Criminal Investigation.
The members of the state council will serve a three-year term.
An agenda for the meeting is attached.
