Laurie Feiler Appointed Deputy Secretary of Corrections

(Pierre) – Secretary of Corrections Tim Reisch has appointed Laurie Feiler as Deputy Secretary for the South Dakota Department of Corrections.

The appointment is effective immediately.

"Laurie is a truly dedicated professional with the vision necessary to support Governor Rounds’ philosophy of making juvenile and adult corrections in the State of South Dakota the best that they can be," Reisch said.

She received the Satnan-Canary award from the SD Corrections Association in 1997 for outstanding contributions made to the field of corrections in South Dakota.

Prior to being hired by the Department of Corrections, Feiler worked for three years as a counselor and assistant program coordinator for the South Dakota Safety Council.

Feiler has a bachelor degree in criminal justice from Sioux Falls College and has completed graduate-level work in counseling and criminal justice from the University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University.

She is a resident of Pierre where she is active in numerous youth and church activities.
