State prison inmates assisting with Pierre cleanup project

Pierre, S.D. – The Department of Corrections is assisting the South Dakota Department of Transportation and City of Pierre this weekend with a roadside cleanup project.

As part of the City of Pierre’s annual citywide cleanup project May 14th, inmates from the South Dakota Women’s Prison will be picking up trash from the ditches along Highway 14 starting at the Mickelson Criminal Justice Center and then working east to Garfield Avenue, south to Highway 34 and then east to Farm Island.

Motorists are urged to use caution and be aware of people working in those areas and to obey all traffic signs.
