Governor Rounds Recommends Nearly $4.6 Million
for Water, Wastewater & Recycling Projects

PIERRE – The Board of Water and Natural Resources approved 13 grants and loans totaling nearly $4.6 million when the board met Thursday and Friday.

          In making the recommendations, Governor Mike Rounds said, “These are important environmental projects that will deliver safe drinking water, provide proper wastewater treatment, improve water quality, and provide for proper solid waste handling and recycling.”

          The $4,582,100 total includes six Consolidated grant awards totaling $1,507,300, two Solid Waste grants totaling $41,800, three Clean Water State Revolving Fund loans totaling $710,000, one Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan amendment for $2.3 million, and one State Water Resources Management System loan for $23,000.

         The Consolidated water funding program provides grants and loans for water, wastewater, and watershed projects.  The Solid Waste Management program provides grants and loans for solid waste disposal, recycling, and waste tire projects.  The Clean Water State Revolving Fund program provides low interest loans for wastewater and storm sewer projects.  The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program provides low interest loans for public drinking water system projects.  The State Water Resources Management System provides grants and loans for large water projects that have been authorized by the legislature.
