Gov. Rounds recommends more than 3 million dollars for water, wastewater, and recycling projects
PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Board of Water and Natural Resources met Thursday and Friday, September 23-24, to approve eight grants and six loans for water, wastewater, and recycling projects recommended by Gov. Mike Rounds, totaling more than $3 million.
In making the recommendations, Gov. Mike Rounds said, “These recycling projects and construction projects for water and wastewater systems that improve services while providing capacity necessary for future growth are good for the environment and good for the state.”
The $3,014,625 in total awards includes one State Water Resources Management System grant for $100,000, six Consolidated Water Facilities Construction Program grants and loans totaling $826,000, two Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program loans totaling $1,174,000, one Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program loan totaling $730,000, and four Solid Waste Management Program grants and loans totaling $184,625,.
The State Water Resources Management System identifies large water projects that require specific state or federal authorization. The Legislature appropriates Water and Environment Funds annually to individual State Water Resources Management System projects through the Governor’s Omnibus Water Funding Bill.

The Consolidated Water Facilities Construction Program provides grants and loans for water, wastewater, and watershed projects statewide. The Legislature appropriates Water and Environment Funds annually to the Consolidated program through the Governor’s Omnibus Water Funding Bill.
