Angostura Reservoir water levels up, boat ramps operational
HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – Recent rainfall has allowed the Game, Fish and Parks to reopen all of their boat ramps on Angostura Reservoir near Hot Springs.
According to Park Manager Willy Collignon, the reservoir is up four feet since Sunday. Recent rainfall in the area and in Wyoming drainage areas has allowed the department to open up all five boat ramps on the reservoir, including the main ramp at Sheps Canyon Lakeside Use Area.
Collignon expects the water to continue to come in for the next several days and said that by the end of the week, there should be 5 or 6 feet of new water in the reservoir.
“This is a perfect time to get out on Angostura,” he says. “The water levels are up, the fishing has been spectacular, and there are still campsites available over the next several weeks. The park is green and beautiful thanks to the recent rains. I encourage boaters and campers to take advantage of the situation and spend a day, a night or several days with us.”
Angostura Recreation Area is located 10 miles southeast of Hot Springs off US18/385. For more information or to make camping reservations, visit www.SDparks.info.
