MISSOURI RIVER RAMP REPORTS AVAILABLE ONLINE
PIERRE - Before heading out for a day on the Missouri River, boaters can check boat ramp conditions online.
The S.D. Division of Parks and Recreation has expanded the report to include all ramps managed by the division along the Missouri River reservoirs. View the report at www.state.sd.us/gfp/divisionwildlife/boating/RampConditions.htm.
The report will be updated weekly or as conditions warrant.
Game, Fish and Parks officials expect to see stable conditions on lakes Lewis and Clark, Francis Case and Sharpe throughout the boating season.
Currently, water levels on Lake Oahe are providing access at most areas along the reservoir. According to projections from the Army Corps of Engineers, water levels on Lake Oahe will drop, though other South Dakota reservoirs should remain stable.
"Access along the Missouri River will be maintained throughout the season, particularly on Lake Oahe. However, we do encourage boaters to check the report ahead of time to be on the safe side," said Matt Snyder, assistant director of operations.
The division has targeted 17 Lake Oahe boat ramps for extensions and/or improvements throughout the summer. Projects have begun at some areas, while others are expected to begin in early-to-mid-June. Boaters are urged to check the online ramp reports for any closures due to construction.
