State Park Reservations Available For Korean War Memorial

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre area state parks will be extending the reservation season to accommodate campers attending the dedication of the Korean War Memorial on Sept. 18.

Farm Island and Oahe Downstream recreation areas will begin accepting reservations on June 19 for a Friday, Sept. 17 arrival. For reservations, call (800) 710-2267 or go online to www.CampSD.com.

The call center is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily (CDT). Online reservations can be made 24 hours a day, but sites cannot be reserved until 7 a.m. on the first day of the 90-day window. There is a $5 reservation fee per site, which does not apply to South Dakota residents. A daily or annual park entrance license is required of all vehicles entering the park. Entrance fees are in addition to camping fees.

As part of the Dedication Ceremony for the Korean War Memorial, a number of events will take place throughout the day on Sept. 18 at the state capitol in Pierre. For more information on the memorial and the Dedication Ceremony, visit http://KoreanWarMemorial.sd.gov.
