PEASE CREEK BOAT RAMP ON LAKE FRANCIS CASE TO SEE IMPROVEMENTS

PIERRE – Boaters wishing to use the boat ramp at Pease Creek Recreation Area on Lake Francis Case, near Geddes, S.D., are advised to use other Missouri River boat ramps in the area this fall.

Current construction at Pease Creek will keep the boat ramp closed for the remainder of the year. Work began in late July to expand the boat ramp parking area and construct a wider and longer boat ramp. When construction is complete, the new ramp will enable access to the river at higher and lower water levels than the current ramp.

During the construction, park manager Cory Weir suggests that boaters use boat ramps at White Swan Lakeside Use Area, which is seven miles southeast of Pease Creek. He says that boaters can also use ramps at North Point Recreation and North Wheeler Recreation Area, which are both located within 20 miles of Pease Creek.

Additionally, the campground is seeing improvements with expansion of the current camping pads and the addition of electricity and a comfort station with showers. An additional camping area to accommodate horse trail users will be constructed. The building of a horse trail will follow in the fall.
