SD News Telephone Reader Adds the Aberdeen American News

Pierre, SD - The South Dakota Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired is pleased to announce the addition of the Aberdeen American News to the SD News Telephone Reader system.

The Aberdeen American News is the latest addition to this service. Other publications available on the system include the Rapid City Journal, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, the USA Today and the New York Times.

The Telephone Reader System is an automated dial up newspaper reading service for people with disabilities who are not able to read the print version of the newspaper. The service allows individuals to access newspapers by telephone through a toll free 800 number. Approximately 340 individuals currently subscribe to this service which is free to eligible individuals who are blind or visually impaired or who do not have access to print publications due to other disabilities.

The Telephone Reader system is a collaborative effort of the South Dakota Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired, South Dakota Braille and Talking Book Library, DakotaLink and the Black Hills Corporation of SD.
