Pierre Lottery Office to Relocate
(Pierre) – After more than 20 years in the historic St. Charles Building, the South Dakota Lottery’s office in Pierre is moving to a new home.
Effective Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, the Pierre office is relocating to the top floor of the Capitol Lake Plaza building at 711 East Wells Avenue.
The state-owned facility currently houses the South Dakota Department of Tourism and State Development, the South Dakota Arts Council, and the South Dakota Office of Tribal Government Relations. Those agencies will continue to be located in Capitol Lake Plaza along with the Lottery.
Lottery Director Norm Lingle says while the St. Charles served the Lottery well for more than two decades, the agency’s new location holds some definite benefits.
“We’re looking forward to having all of our employees on a single floor in a common area as opposed to spread out in several locations on two floors. Closer proximity to the Capitol complex as well as a connection to the state IT infrastructure are also pluses,” Lingle said.
While it may take some time for people to get used to finding the Lottery in a new building, Lingle says he thinks visitors will appreciate the change as well.
“The Capitol Lake Plaza is a fairly easy place to get to in Pierre and should be a more convenient stop for people who need to have tickets validated or have other business with the Lottery. Our validation center will be the first thing you see when you step off the elevator on the top floor; it will be the same friendly faces, just in a new location,” Lingle said.
The Lottery’s physical location in Pierre may be changing but the mailing address will remain the same – P.O. Box 7107, Pierre, SD57501 – as will all Lottery phone numbers and email addresses. The Pierre Lottery office expects to be up and running in Capitol Lake Plaza at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010.
