(PIERRE, SD) - Two seminars being held in Fargo, North Dakota, in September will offer helpful state tax information to area business owners who conduct business in both South Dakota and North Dakota.
The South Dakota Department of Revenue and the North Dakota Tax Department are hosting the Border Tax Seminars which are scheduled for Thursday, September 15, in the basement meeting room of the JC Penney’s wing at the West Acres Mall, 3902 13th Avenue South.
A Sales and Use Tax Seminar is set from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CDT) with a Tax Seminar for Construction Contractors scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (CDT). Topics to be covered at the seminars include how and when to apply for a sales tax license; when to apply North Dakota vs. South Dakota tax; exemptions from sales and use taxes; agricultural products and production; how contractors’ excise tax applies to South Dakota and North Dakota contractors; exempt entities; local taxes; use tax; and filing returns.
