Meridian Bridge to close next week for repairs

YANKTON, S.D. - Cramer & Associates of Grimes, Iowa continues to work on repairs to the Highway 81 Meridian Bridge, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.

Repair work has moved to the Nebraska side of the river concentrating on the outside gusset plates.

Complete closure of Highway 81 across the Meridian Bridge is now scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, around 9 a.m. The closure is expected to be for two weeks.

Vehicles under 10 tons may use the Gavins Point Dam Road crossing which has a 15 foot height restriction and a 10 foot width restriction. All vehicles not meeting this criteria should use alternate routes. (See www.SDDOT.com/geninfo_news.asp for a route map.) Law enforcement will be present.
