Tea/Ellis Road to become four-way stop
SIOUX FALLS -- The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will convert the current two-way stop at the intersection of the Tea/Ellis Road (Minnehaha County 139) and SD 42 west of Sioux Falls into a four-way stop. The change will take place on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, weather permitting.
Currently only traffic traveling north and south is required to stop. The new signs will require stops for traffic traveling in all directions.
Crews will install “Stop Ahead” signs and pavement markings to let drivers know about the change. In addition, temporary flags will be attached to the new stop signs on SD 42, but will be replaced at a later date with flashing red beacons above the signs.
Work is expected to begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish before 5:00 p.m. Portable message boards and flaggers will direct traffic through the work area.
