Crews begin chip seal of SD50 today
 Affected section is from Geddes north to the junction of Highway 44

GEDDES, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will be chip sealing an 8.4 mile section of SD Highway 50 from Geddes north to the junction of Highway 44. Work begins today (July 9) and is expected to be completed tomorrow (July 10), weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot car. A fifteen minute delay can be expected. Loose gravel will be present for a period of 36 to 72 hours after each day’s chip seal application, and traffic should travel at 40 mph during this time frame.
 
The permanent pavement marking is scheduled to be applied within 14 days of completion of the chip seal.
 
The Road Guy Construction Co, Inc. from Yankton, SD is the prime contractor on the $138,000 project.
