Public Meeting Planned for Highway 73 Project

PIERRE -- The South Dakota Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Tuesday, January 18, 2005 from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. to discuss and receive public input about the SD Highway 73 project in Bennett County. The hearing will be held at the Library Community Room in on Main Street in MartinSD.

SDDOT plans to reconstruct 12 miles of SD 73 between US 18 and the Jackson County line. Crews will also lay an interim surface on the highway. The $4.8 million project is scheduled for the 2007 construction season. 

SDDOT personnel will be available with displays to discuss the proposed project and answer questions.  Information will be available on the acquisition of right-of-way, relocation assistance, the environmental impacts of the project, and the economic and social effects of the project’s location and design. The public will also be able to present written comments at the meeting.
