Construction Narrows US 85 Driving Lanes

BELLE FOURCHE – Beginning the week of Monday, April 18, construction crews will narrow one and a half miles of US 85 between Belle Fourche and Spearfish.

The lane change will begin at approximately ½ mile north of the water tank at the top of Redwater Hilll and extend to approximately ¼ mile south of the Old Belle Road intersection at the bottom of Redwater Hill. Project contractor E.H. Oftedal & Sons of Miles City, Montana, will narrow the existing driving lanes to 24 feet in the eastbound two lanes of the existing four-lane highway. The two lanes will have two-way traffic for approximately eight weeks while crews remove the two westbound lanes.
