Traffic switch on Elk Vale Road near Exit 61

RAPID CITY – The Department of Transportation has announced plans to switch traffic on Elk Vale Road by Exit 61 beginning Monday, August 16, 2004 for three days as part of the Southeast Connector project. Intermittent delays of up to 15 minutes are possible.  It is recommended Traffic to select alternate routes.

Work is nearly complete on County Road T-217 (Old Folsom Rd.)  Traffic will be switched onto the new roadway in the coming week.  Access to the new County Road T-217 is directly across the Rapid City Landfill along Highway 79.

Work is nearly complete on the service road by Merillat. The closure of other approaches that provided access to Merillat and other businesses in that area will require access to now be obtained via the new service road at the intersection of Highway 79 and Minnesota Street.

Construction is actively taking place at the new bridge over the railroad at Exit 61 to Elk Vale Road, various service roads, and for the new southbound lanes of Highway 79.  Grading for the new interchange at Highway 16B and 79 and structure has begun.
