Exit 66 Closure

RAPID CITY, SD -- On Wednesday, October 1, 2003, work will begin at Exit 66 for the removal of the interchange ramps. At 12 noon, lane closures will be in place at the access points on I-90 in the east and westbound directions of travel and along North Ellsworth Road.

To prepare motorist for this change in access, informational signing will be in place two weeks prior to the closure. Additional signing along North Ellsworth Road will be in place prior to the ramp closure.

During the removal of these ramps, traffic will be maintained on I-90 with lane closures and will be restricted to one lane in each direction. Traffic on North Ellsworth Road will be able to travel north and south under the interstate but may be restricted to one lane at times. Heavy traffic and short delays may be anticipated. To avoid delays, use Exit 67 B for access to the Main Gate at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

Work zone hours will be from 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled to be complete by November 15, 2003.
