I-29 Project South of Watertown Nears Completion

(Watertown) Fourteen miles of construction on Interstate-29 south of Watertown is nearly finished. South Dakota Department of Transportation officials say the area between the Castlewood and Estelline exits should be open sometime this week, depending on weather conditions.

Construction crews began work on that segment in late March. The crews replaced the two southbound lanes and made safety improvements to guardrails, culverts and seven bridges. During construction, crews built temporary crossovers to divert traffic from the area.

Irving F. Jensen of Sioux City, Iowa is the prime contractor on the project. The cost of this construction totaled $11 million dollars.
