Southeast Connector Traffic Flow Changes at Highway 79
RAPID CITY – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) plans to merge traffic down to two lanes for two miles on SD Highway 79 from the Minnesota Street intersection to the south beginning Friday, April 8, 2005. This change will have traffic flow driving head-to-head.
This traffic flow change is required to allow reconstruction of the northbound lanes. Traffic flow will be changed back to four lanes in September.
Construction will also begin again at the new bridge over the railroad at Exit 61 on Elk Vale Road in the coming weeks to complete that end of the project. The Southeast Connector, Elk Vale Road, from Interstate 90-Exit 61 east of Rapid City to S.D. Highway 79 south of town will be completed this year.
