Springfield Asphalt Resurfacing to Start

YANKTON -  The community of Springfield will have a new asphalt overlay this fall on SD Highway 37 through town and north nine miles to Tyndall.

SD 37 will receive a two inch thick overlay from Woods Street on the west edge of Springfield, to New SD 37 on the north edge of town.   The section of SD 37 between Springfield and Tyndall will receive two 1 ½ inch thick lifts of new asphalt mat.  Work is scheduled to start around the first of September on repairs to the drainage culverts in the north nine miles.  Some sidewalk improvements in the grade school area will be done in mid September, with the asphalt overlay work starting late in the month.

Traffic will be maintained through the project with flaggers and a pilot car during the asphalt overlay. All work on the project is to be completed by October 29, 2004.

The Department of Transportation awarded the contract to Brower Construction Co. of Sioux City, Iowa on May 28, 2004 at a cost of $1,130,822.74.
