Construction on Highway 14 Between Brookings and Volga Completed

BROOKINGS: -- The paving project on the new westbound lanes of Highway 14 between Brookings and Volga is completed and will be opened to traffic tomorrow morning (September 18.)

Although the roadway will be open to traffic, motorists may experience temporary delays while the contractor applies new pavement marking paint to the road.

Structures and grading construction work on the project was completed in 2001. Surfacing work was completed in 2002 and is being finished approximately three weeks ahead of the completion date. A rehabilitation project for the eastbound lanes is scheduled for 2003.

The prime contractor for the surfacing contract was Irving F. Jensen of Sioux City IA. 

To celebrate the completion of this project a grand opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow on the west end of the project across from the South Dakota Soybean Producers Plant. Officials from the City of Brookings, City of Volga, South Dakota Soybean Producers, and the Brookings County Commission will be present.
