Radar Hill Road Construction Update
Box Elder, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation recently began reconstruction work on Radar Hill Road at Box Elder.
Phase I, currently in progress, includes grading and construction of a new road off to the side of the current Radar Hill Road alignment between 227th Street and Old Cavalry Road.
Phase II of the project is expected to begin August 23. This phase of construction will focus on reconstructing Radar Hill Road at the north end of the project from Old Cavalry Road to 228th Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained during this phase, however, delays may be expected and taking an alternate route is recommended.
Motorists are advised to slow down in the construction area and be aware of large equipment and construction workers.
The overall completion date for this project is November 18, 2011. The prime contractor is Zandstra Construction, Inc. of Rapid City and the contract amount is $2,125,592.
