South Dakota Film Festival Features Films and
Filmmakers from South Dakota
ABERDEEN, S.D. -- The Second Annual Film Festival is happening this weekend in Aberdeen at the downtown community theatre. The festival will showcase many films throughout the weekend; including 3 filmed in South Dakota by non-South Dakota filmmakers, but have local talent and crew and 9 filmed in the state by South Dakota filmmakers. The event will showcase a total of 33 official film selections.
"The film industry continues to grow in South Dakota and by showing off the local talent and landscapes, it proves that we have what it takes to be a filming location with a well-balanced infrastructure," said Troy McQuillen, Festival Co-Producer.
These 12 films range from short to feature films and include locations such as the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Pierre, Rapid City, Keystone, Britton, Webster, Faulkton, Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, Gregory, Platte, Armour, Tripp, Bryant, Dell Rapids, Mitchell and Viborg. For a detailed synopsis of these films or any other film being showcased at the festival, visit www.southdakotafilmfest.org.
"South Dakota offers countless opportunities for filming and by coming out to the film festival this weekend people will see firsthand why this is such a great business for the state and how much time and hard work goes into producing films," concluded Tom Black, Festival Co-Producer. "The event is also a tremendous opportunity for networking among filmmakers, vendors and enthusiasts."
