Brookings “Opens Doors” to Culture and History
PIERRE, S.D. – Brookings will hold a Doors Open event April 25-26 in the downtown area.
“Gardening, heritage tourism and enjoyment of the arts are popular pastimes in America,” said Doris Roden, Program Manager of Downtown Brookings, Inc. “Doors Open Brookings addresses all those interests.”
Doors Open Brookings will feature an art door display and silent auction, preservation and gardening workshops and a flea market. An art crawl will feature local artists in their studios or in downtown locations.
“The artist studio tour highlights some of the finest artists in a community that is known for its art,” added Roden. “Participants love going right into the artists' studios to see how and where the art is created.”
Doors Open is an international movement that highlights the historic and cultural assets of the community by opening the doors of historic and cultural sites to the public and adding “Xtra” activities at various sites.
According to Roden, “It's a day of fun for family and friends, so grab your favorite person and enjoy a day or two in Brookings.”
