PIERRE, S.D. – Antique cars, tractors, rocks and family fun await at the Pioneer Auto Show in Murdo, S.D.  

 

Located at Interstate 90’s exit 192, the Pioneer Auto Show has been entertaining families and thrilling car enthusiasts since 1954. Originally a successful gas station, the owner, A.J. “Dick” Geisler, found that displaying vintage automobiles brought in more business. After collecting too many vehicles for their small gas station, Dick and his two sons, John and Dave, decided to expand. What resulted was an attraction that takes visitors back in time. 

 

“My dad had a Chevy dealer, and I had a Ford dealer, and we just started collecting cars,” said Dave Geisler, owner, Pioneer Auto Show. “The original General Lee and Elvis’s motorcycle are probably the most popular displays, but the “Big Green Car” always seems to capture the curiosity of travelers on the interstate.” 

 

With over 300 vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles, the Pioneer Auto Show is one of the largest, privately-owned auto shows open to the public. They also carry a wide range of classic music boxes and toys, an old prairie town and the famous collection of Zeitner rocks, gems and fossils for all to enjoy.

 

“We have something for everyone here at Pioneer Auto,” continued Geisler. “We have a kid’s treasure hunt, a hot rod manure spreader and Edsel the Elephant (an elephant who squirts water). These always bring smiles to the faces of children and adults alike.”
