Filming Location Destination: South Dakota
PIERRE, S.D. – Two representatives from the South Dakota Film Office will attend the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Locations Trade Show in Santa Monica, Calif., April 12-14, 2007.
Wanda Romkema, Media and Public Relations Manager, and Lesa Jarding, Film and Media Relations Representative, will meet with producers, directors, production managers, writers, location managers and others interested in shooting on-location in South Dakota.
“South Dakota is truly the ‘land of infinite variety’ when it comes to filming locations,” said Romkema. “Lesa and I are excited to showcase everything South Dakota has to offer. And aside from great landscapes, our state offers several services, as well as some of the most hard working crews you’ll find anywhere.”
The South Dakota Film Office is part of Film the West, a consortium of the film offices in South Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. The four offices work collaboratively to attend trade shows and host receptions throughout the year, and will share booth space at the AFCI Locations Trade Show.
AFCI Locations Trade Show is the industry’s longest-running trade event for production locations and resources. More than 200 exhibitors from across the world will be in attendance. AFCI is the official professional organization for film commissioners who assist film, television and video production throughout the world.
The efforts of the South Dakota Film Office, a component of the South Dakota Department of Tourism and State Development, are part of Goal 1 of the 2010 initiative to double visitor spending in South Dakota. The Office of Tourism serves under the direction of Richard Benda, Secretary of the Department of Tourism and State Development.
