PIERRE, S.D. – Tripp County, located in south-central South Dakota creates a portion of the state’s southern border. It is home to the communities of Colome, Hamill, Witten and Winner. 

 

In Winner enjoy annual events like the Labor Day Celebration, which features a carnival with rides and games, demolition derby, road race and bull-o-rama. The festivities also include an annual road race. Other events in Winner include the annual Show and Sell Craft Fair, held November 17 this year.

 

Tripp County’s Dog Ear Lake provides great opportunities for fishing, as species like bullhead and northern pike are commonly found here. Hunting enthusiasts will also appreciate the county’s wide open spaces, which make it prime hunting ground for many of the state’s most commonly hunted species like pheasants, prairie chicken, and sharp-tail grouse.
