Sturgis Mustang Rally
PIERRE, S.D. – Move over bikers, the Mustangs are moving in Labor Day weekend.
“People know Sturgis for motorcycles, but we’re way more than that,” said Robin Shrake, chairperson of the Sturgis Mustang Rally Committee. “We want to give Mustang owners the same opportunity to ride through the beautiful Black Hills and meet other owners with the same passion for their cars.”
Events scheduled at this year’s rally include a show and shine competition, poker runs, street dance, drag racing and pub crawl. New to the rally will be an auto-cross competition and a cruiser night. There are also several prizes that can be won by rally-goers.
“We have over $3,000 in prizes for the poker run and we’re also giving away a brand new Shelby Mustang on display at Jacobsen Ford in Sturgis,” said Shrake.
The Sturgis Mustang Rally began in 2007 when a local Mustang owner contacted the Sturgis Area Business Alliance. The first event filled four city blocks with Mustangs representing all different years. The second annual event runs August 28-September 1.
