PRAIRIE ART SHOWCASE CELEBRATES VIBRANT SOUTH DAKOTA ART COMMUNITY

First Lady Mary Dean Janklow hosts the First Lady’s Prairie Art Showcase Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Ramkota RiverCenter in Pierre.  The showcase is held in conjunction with the annual Governor’s Invitational Pheasant Hunt and features artwork by 36 of South Dakota’s most talented artists.

The exhibition reveals the extraordinary creativity of South Dakota artists through their diverse mediums: acrylic, watercolor and oil paintings, pottery, handcrafted furniture, sterling silver jewelry, wood, bone and antler carvings, photography, sculpture, Native American dolls, and much more.

The Prairie Art Showcase is open to the public 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26.  Reptile Gardens gives a snake presentation at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.  CBM Food Service presents a tableside cooking demonstration at 1 p.m.  An executive chef prepares five dishes, including Mandarin chicken, pork in cherry wine sauce, top sirloin in burgundy mushroom sauce, seared walleye in lemon and wine, and oriental stir fried vegetables.  Recipes available.

There is no admission for the art show, entertainment or cooking demonstration.
