CLEAR LAKE SADDLES UP FOR CRYSTAL SPRINGS RODEO
Cowboys and cowgirls will mosey into Clear Lake for the Crystal Springs Ranch Rodeo, June 28-30. Competing for a purse of nearly $40,000, an estimated 250 PRCA cowboys and cowgirls will attend. Entrants will perform in seven events, including bareback riding, saddle bronc, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
Friday and Saturday performances will be held at 8 p.m. and close with a Sunday performance at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for children ages 6 to 16, and free for children age 5 and under. Three-day passes are available; for adults, $33, and for children, $18. Ringside seats for $20 are available, but limited. Bring your own blankets and chairs for seating on the grassy slopes of the arena. Camping is free for rodeo attendees and family entertainment is provided all three days.
Kids’ Night is Friday, June 28, with the first 350 kids receiving a free hat. Sunday’s activities kick off with the Justin Crisis Fund Trail Ride at 10 a.m. A horse clinic by Howard Vet Clinic of Watertown will start at 1 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. the annual rodeo parade will be held on Clear Lake’s Main Street. On Sunday, June 30, church services will be at 10 a.m. at the rodeo arena.

The Crystal Springs Ranch Rodeo has been designated a "Great Event" by the South Dakota Department of Tourism. With that designation, the department provides assistance to event coordinators and creates and funds promotions for the event. The objective of the Department of Tourism’s "Great Events" program is to boost attendance at South Dakota events and to increase economic impact in host communities.
