State Historical Society bringing back songs of WWI
PIERRE, S.D. – The final program offered by the South Dakota State Historical Society as part of “Archives Month” is a tribute to the music of World War I.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, the public can listen to songs of World War I at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 123 N. Highland Ave in Pierre. The free concert, performed by the church choir, begins at 2 p.m. CDT.
Some of the 22 songs featured during the performance are “Over There,” “K-K-K-Katy,” “It’s a Long, Long Way to Tipperary,” and “Freedom For All Forever.”
Gov. Mike Rounds has proclaimed October as “Archives Month” in South Dakota, part of a collaborative effort by professional organizations and repositories around thenation to highlight the importance of records of enduring value.
The South Dakota State Historical Society-Archives is located at the CulturalHeritageCenter in Pierre.
