Steck Wholesale Foods Adding Employees

PIERRE, S.D. - Steck Wholesale Foods, Inc. of North Sioux City is launching an expansion project today that will create 10 jobs in the next year and 14 more jobs in the next three years.

Steck Wholesale Foods is a commercial wholesale baker that produces English muffins for warehousing divisions, retailers and the food service industry. At the request of Steck’s major customers, the company is planning to add a new line of baking powder biscuits.

“Not only is this announcement great news for Steck Wholesale Foods, but is very good news for South Dakota,” said Gov. Mike Rounds. “Whenever a company changes with the times and grows as a result, both the company and the state benefit.”

The project is partially financed with an SBA 504 loan and the Revolving Economic Development & Initiative (REDI) Fund administered through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

“Once again, the State of South Dakota really helped get the project moving along. It couldn’t be done without the Economic Development staff’s creative thinking and willingness to go the extra mile,” said Craig Stanley, owner of Steck Wholesale Foods.

“North Sioux City Economic Development Corporation has been a proud partner of Steck Wholesale Foods since the inception of the business,” said NSCEDC Executive Director Kory Menken. “This expansion is the direct result of the company’s hard work and commitment to producing a quality product. Steck Wholesale Foods exemplifies the spirit of America’s small business owners.”

Individuals interested in applying for a position with the firm should inquire at the South Dakota Department of Labor’s North Sioux City office, 504 River Drive, North Sioux City.

As a result of services provided by GOED, Steck Wholesale Foods is already the fifth firm this year to announce expansion or relocation to South Dakota. Those announcements are expected to create 170 jobs in the next three years.
