Wednesday-Thursday, March 26-27, Pierre, 7:30 a.m. (CDT) – The 20th Annual Environmental and Ground Water Quality Conference will be held at the Best Western-Ramkota Inn in Pierre. The state Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) hosts the conference, which will consist of exhibits and talks covering such subjects as aquifer denitrification, electronic waste recycling, trends in stream flow in the Missouri River Basin, subsurface uranium fate & transport, groundwater pumping test in the North Cave Hills uranium district, assessment and clean-up of a former manufactured gas plant, along with other subjects of environmental interest. The conference is free and open to the public. Wednesday, March 26, Watertown, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (CDT) - The Department of Labor’s Northeast Area Career Center will be holding a Job Search Assistance Program (JSAP) at 2001 9th Ave. SW, Ste. 200.  The JSAP is designed to assist and train job seekers on how to find and secure employment.  Some of the topics included are job search and retention skills, networking, the hidden job market, resumes, applications, and proper interview techniques.  It is provided at no charge and open to the public. Public sessions will be held in the Rushmore and Washington rooms of the Kings Inn. The regents’ business meeting begins at 10 a.m. (CDT) Thursday, March 27. Friday, March 28, Rapid City, 10 a.m. (MDT) - Activation ceremony for Rapid City National Guard unit. Twenty-one Soldiers from Company C, 1st Battalion, 189th Aviation, South Dakota Army National Guard, will be honored at an activation ceremony at the Army Aviation Support Facility next to the Rapid City Regional Airport as they prepare to deploy for 12-month tour in support of NATO's Kosovo Force (K-FOR). Friday, March 28, Rapid City, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (MDT) - Embedded Media Combat Shootout. The South Dakota National Guard Public Affairs Office would like to extend a challenge to your newspaper, TV or radio station staff to participate in the "Embedded Media Combat Shootout" to be held on the second floor of the YMCA in Rapid City. This will no doubt be a TEAMBUILDING event for those participating as well as a chance for the Guard to showcase its new inflatable TAC Ball Arena that measures 100 x 50 feet and comes complete with artificial turf and combat bunkers. South Dakota is the first state to receive the new TAC Ball Arena as part of the National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command's Mobile Events Team inventory.
