Friday, September 15, 8 a.m. (CDT) – As part of the Vietnam War memorial dedication activities, Adrian Cronauer will kick off the SD Broadcasters Association’s “Good Morning Vietnam” show being broadcast from LCR 1-2 on 3rd floor of the State Capitol. Friday-Saturday, September 15-16, Pierre, SDVietnam War Memorial (CDT) – Gov. Mike Rounds will speak at the following events:
Friday, 1 p.m. – Media Availability with Gov. Rounds and Adrian Cronauer at the VisitorCenter.
Friday, 2 p.m. – Gov. Rounds will speak at the Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial Wall Opening Ceremony – Hilger’s Gulch.
Saturday, 2 p.m. - Vietnam War Memorial Dedication Ceremony.

Saturday, September 16, Pierre, live coverage all day - SDPB Television, Radio and Internet will honor veterans with live coverage of the Vietnam War Memorial Parade and Dedication.
- 9:30 a.m. (CDT) - SDPB Television presents all the parade action from Pierre with commentators Larry Rohrer and Reed Christopherson.
- 1:30 p.m. (CDT) - SDPB Television begins its pre-dedication show live from the State Capitol grounds with hosts Stephanie Rissler, Bob Bosse and Susan Hanson.
- 2 p.m. (CDT) - SDPB Radio & SDPB Television present the Vietnam War Memorial Dedication live.
Saturday, September 16, Pierre, 9:30 a.m. (CDT) - Vietnam War Memorial Dedication Parade. Approximately 500 South Dakota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will march during the Vietnam War Memorial Dedication Parade to pay tribute to the service of all Vietnam Veterans. The South Dakota National Guard will also provide logistical, medical, traffic control and ceremonial support throughout the event. A static display of South Dakota National Guard equipment will be exhibited on the capital grounds and multiple military aircraft fly-overs will be conducted during the celebration. Saturday, September 16, Custer, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (MDT) -- The Governor’s Child Seat Program: Project 8 is designed to educate South Dakota’s parents and guardians about proper child seat use and installation. Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available at the Custer Co. Children's Center, 1213 Bluebell Lane, to demonstrate child seat use and installation. Project 8 works to remind all parents and other adults responsible for children traveling in motor vehicles -- if the kids are less than 4’9” tall; they need to be in a booster seat. Saturday, September 16, Brookings, 12 noon - 3 p.m. (CDT) -- The Governor’s Child Seat Program: Project 8 is designed to educate South Dakota’s parents and guardians about proper child seat use and installation. Early Childhood Enrichment (ECE) programs and Project 8 community partners in Brookings gear up to partner with State Farm Insurance to host a car seat event during the sixth annual State Farm Child Safety Days during the month of September. Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available at the Kleinjan Chiropractic, 1204 Main Ave S, to help celebrate Kids Day America and to also demonstrate child seat use and installation. September 17-23, New York, New York – Secretary of Tourism and State Development Richard Benda will represent South Dakota at the International Economic Development Conference. The conference will focus on how to thrive in a knowledge based economy, bringing together more than 1,500 leaders in business, government, and academics to examine current policy issues and debate solutions. Monday-Tuesday, September 18-19, Watertown, 8:15 a.m. (CDT) - The SD Board of Education will meet at Lake Area Technical Institute. A portion of the meeting on Monday (1-5 p.m.) will be dedicated to a joint meeting with the SD Board of Regents. Board members and regents will review the 2010 Education Initiative, 2006 academic indicators and teacher preparation programs. During its regular meeting, the Board of Education will hear updates on the Reading First program, Watertown's laptop project and the state's new district accreditation model. Wednesday, September 20, Watertown, 1–2:30 p.m. (CDT) - Representatives from the SD Dept. of Public Safety, along with city and county emergency personnel, will hold a public safety roundtable in Kampeska Hall at the EventCenter. The agenda includes underage drinking, crash reduction efforts, flood safety concerns, and funding for emergency response agencies.
