Vietnam War Memorial Dedication Concerts:
Beach Boys/Red Willow Band Sold Out
Only 151 Tickets Left for Steve Miller Band/Creedence Clearwater Revisited
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds today announced that one of the two concerts planned for the dedication of the state’s Vietnam War Memorial has sold out and the other is expected to sell out shortly.
“The response to the concerts has been tremendous,” Gov. Rounds said. “While the dedication of the memorial will be a solemn event, this is also an opportunity for celebration and welcome home. Everyone is looking forward to enjoying some great shows.”
The Friday, Sept. 15 concert featuring The Beach Boys and special guests The Red Willow Band, has sold out all 9,000 tickets. Only 151 tickets remain available for the Saturday, Sept. 16 concert featuring The Steve Miller Band and Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
Both concerts will be held at Hollister Field in Pierre as part of a two-day dedication of the new memorial at the State Capitol on September 15 and 16, 2006.
The few remaining tickets for the Steve Miller Band / Creedence Clearwater Revisited concert are available online at www.SDVietnamWarMemorial.com; by calling 1-888-493-3255 from 9:00 a.m. - noon and 1:00-5:00 pm (MT); or at Harley Davidson dealerships in Pierre, Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Sturgis, and Watertown.
Tickets for the Saturday night concert cost $50 plus tax and $3 service fee. Tickets for the Beach Boys and The Red Willow Band were $40 plus tax and $3 service fee.
The dedication will feature a large parade and formal dedication ceremony, as well as a replica of the national Wall memorial, Huey helicopter rides, muscle car show, USO tents, fallen sons and daughters remembrance field, and quilt of tears display.
