Saturday, May 20, Madison, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (CDT) - The Governor’s Child Seat Program: Project 8 is designed to educate South Dakota’s parents and guardians about proper child seat use and installation. Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available at the LakeCountyExtensionBuilding, 1000 S. Egan Ave., to educate and demonstrate child seat use and installation. Project 8 reminds all parents and other adults responsible for children traveling in motor vehicles -- if the kids are less than 4’9” tall; they need to be in a booster seat. Monday, May 22, Sioux Falls, 9 a.m. (CDT) - The South Dakota Real Estate Commission is hosting a Spring Caravan meeting on "Mold and Meth Disclosure: What Every Real Estate Licensee Should Know About Homeowner's Insurance." There is a $50 fee to attend the session which is being held at the Sioux Falls Ramkota. Pre-registration is encouraged. For more information, call the South Dakota Real Estate Commission, 773-3600.
Monday, May 22, Sioux Falls, 10:30 a.m. (CDT) - In conjunction with the nationwide May Mobilization Buckle Up campaign, the South Dakota Highway Patrol will present four "Saved by the Belt" awards. The Sioux Falls Police Department and the Highway Patrol will host the event at the LawEnforcementCenter. "Saved by the Belt" awards are given to people who were involved in serious car crashes and likely survived or avoided serious injury because they were wearing their seatbelts. Tuesday, May 23, Sioux Falls, 1 p.m. (open house), 3 p.m. (public meeting), (CDT) - The Division of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBVI) will hold an open house at the newly relocated Rehabilitation Center for the Blind at 2900 West 11th Street. Topics for discussion during he public meeting include optimizing services for South Dakota citizens who are blind or visually impaired and the State Plan updates and timelines. Mike Rounds will join with 12 radio stations across South Dakota, working together to broadcast a 5-hour fundraiser for the upcoming dedication of the South Dakota Vietnam War Memorial. The program will feature interviews with Vietnam War era veterans, music and news of the Vietnam War years, and interviews with Gov. Rounds and event organizers.
