PIERRES.D. – The following are news tips from offices and agencies within South Dakota State Government:

Sunday-Monday, July 31-August 1, Sioux Falls, 6 p.m. (CDT) – Gov. Mike Rounds will attend the 10th Annual Hot Stuff Foods Challenge and banquet being held at the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls on Sunday evening.  The two-day event is a fundraiser for the Children’s Home Society.  For more information, contact Roxy Everson, 773-3212.

Monday, August 1, Sioux Falls, 8 a.m. (CDT) – The University of South Dakota School of Medicine and the South Dakota Department of Health are sponsoring a Forensic Epidemiology Workshop for Public Health and Law Enforcement Personnel from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ramkota Hotel. More information is on the website at http://www.state.sd.us/doh/Calendar/ForensicEpi.pdf or from the Office of Continuing Medical Education, 357-1480.

Wednesday, August 3, Pierre, 10:30 a.m. (CDT) – Gov. Mike Rounds will participate in the dedication ceremony for new South Dakota Governor’s Residence.  The ceremony will be held outdoors at the East main entrance.  For more information, contact John Moisan, 773-3688.

Thursday, August 4, Pierre, 8 a.m. (CDT) - The Mental Health Advisory & Planning Council meeting will be held at the Governors Inn, 700 W. Sioux, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  For more information, contact Amy Iversen-Pollreisz, 773-5991.

Thursday-Friday, August 4-5, Pierre, 9 a.m. (CDT) - The Game, Fish and Parks Commission will hold its August meeting at the Ramkota beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. and Friday at 8 a.m.  A public hearing will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with regard to adoption, amendment and repeal of rules pertaining to waterfowl and mountain lion seasons, as well as rules pertaining to concession leases, private shooting preserves and zoning of Piyas Lake.  For more information, visit http://www.sdgfp.info/Commission/Index.htm or contact Jeanette Gourneau, 773-3718.

Thursday, August 4, Britton 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. (CDT) - The Department of Labor’s South Dakota Career Center will be holding itinerant office hours.  Staff will be available for anyone interested in receiving employment services for both job seekers and employers at no cost, and veteran services, training programs and unemployment insurance. The office hours will be held at the Marshall County Community Hall.  Parties interested in using these services can stop in or call 448-2682 during these office hours.

Thursday, August 4, Ellsworth AFB, 2 - 6 p.m. (MDT) – The Family Support Center will hold a Boots to Suits Job Fair for military members and their families at Rushmore Center, 1000 Ellsworth Street, Suite 1500. The quarterly mini-job fair brings together local and out-of-state businesses looking for retiring/separating military members.
