Friday-Monday, August 19-September 5, Statewide - South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers and local law enforcement officers will be out in full force conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to reduce alcohol-related death and injuries on South Dakota’s roads during the national You Drink & Drive. Monday, August 22, Pierre, noon (CDT) – Gov. Mike Rounds will be the guest speaker at the opening lunch of the 2005 SD Association of Telephone Cooperatives annual meeting to be held at the Ramkota RiverCentre.  For more information, contact Mark Johnston, 773-3212.

Tuesday–Thursday, August 23-25, Pierre – The South Dakota Office of Tourism will host the television show, “Outdoorsmen Adventures,” for future broadcast programming. Tuesday, Aug. 23, Pierre, 1 p.m. (CDT) -- The Health Care Commission will hold a subcommittee meeting on long-term care/Medicaid at the Ramkota RiverCentre. Agenda topics include issues specific to long-term care providers, including Medicaid reimbursement and occupancy challenges of facilities. Wednesday–Thursday, August 24 - September 1, Western South Dakota – The South Dakota Office of Tourism will host Smithsonian Magazine on a familiarization trip to western South Dakota. Wednesday, Aug. 24, Pierre, 10 a.m. (CDT) -- The Department of Social Services' Division of Adult Services and Aging will host a meeting at the Ramkota RiverCentre with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to identify agencies and organizations who are willing to partner in the enrollment phase of the implementation of the new Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage. Thursday, August 25, Watertown, 9 a.m. (CDT) - The Department of Labor's Watertown Career Learning Center will hold a 6-hour Job Hunting Tips Workshop (JSAP) at their conference room, located at 2001 9th Ave. SW, Suite 200.  The workshop will cover:  assessing skills, abilities and strengths; how to and where to look for work; interviewing techniques; job retention/employee loyalty; setting career goals; and written communications, including resume writing, cover letter development, and applications. This workshop is provided at no charge.  To register, call 882-5080.
