Gov. Rounds Approves $257,500 grant for new fire hall in Gettysburg

PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds announced that the town of Gettysburg will receive a $257,500 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to fund the construction of a new fire hall.

“One of the most critical services that government provides is to protect the public in times of emergency,” said Gov. Rounds.  “Being able to provide fire protection is an essential public service.  This new fire hall will meet the needs of the community for years to come.”

Gettysburg’s current fire hall facility is outdated and too small to hold the fire department’s equipment.

“I want to thank Gov. Rounds for his continued support of Dist. 23,” said Sen. Jay Duenwald of Hoven.  “The new fire hall will allow the department to better serve the Gettysburg area,” the Senator noted.  “It will benefit every member of the community,” he concluded.

All CDBG projects are an important part of the state’s 2010 Initiative goal to stabilize rural populations through community development.
