Gov. Rounds announces Vermillion Capital for a Day
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds announced today that he plans to visit Vermillion on April 20, 2005, during his 2005 Capital for a Day tour.
“Capital for a Day gives everyone who attends a unique opportunity to learn more about each other, our state, and our government,” said Gov. Rounds. “I’m looking forward to visiting Vermillion to learn more about the unique community and to speak with all of the students and the people living in and around the community.”
“I’m encouraging the public to mark April 20th on their calendar,” said Mayor Dan Christopherson. “They should plan to participate in the activities and interact with the various departments as the business of state government is conducted in Vermillion.”
A complete schedule of events will be released at a later time.
Gov. Rounds and his staff, cabinet, and agencies also plan to visit the following communities in 2005:
- Sisseton: May
- Martin: June
- Canistota: July
- Eureka: August
- Platte: September
In the past two years, Gov. Rounds and his staff have traveled to 11 communities across South Dakota for Capital for a Day events. These communities include: Brookings, Sturgis, Wessington Springs, Lemmon, Aberdeen, Hot Springs, Yankton, Faith, Britton, Wall, and Chamberlain.
