Gov. Rounds seeks veterans’ stories for new South Dakota book
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds is looking for South Dakota Korean War veterans’ names and stories to help tell an account of the war in a new book to be distributed at the Korean War Memorial dedication.
“Our wish is to learn more about all who served during the Korean War period,” said Gov. Rounds. “whether they served in Korea, stateside or in some other distant location. We want to honor veterans born in South Dakota, veterans who went to service from here, returned here, moved here, or moved away from here in retirement. We also want the information for deceased Korean Veterans. This is a time to honor all who served from 1950 to 1955,” said Rounds.
There are multiple ways Korean War vets can tell their stories:
· Visiting http://koreanwarmemorial.sd.gov/ and clicking on “DMZ Stories.”
· Completing a Korean War Veteran Information Sheet and sending it to:

The book will concentrate on stories from the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, but will include other stories as space permits. Biographical information of all veterans from 1950 to 1955 will be included.
