Monday, October 3, Custer State Park, 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (MDT) – The South Dakota Office of Tourism broadcasts a live television satellite feed from Custer State Park of the Buffalo Roundup. Two satellite windows, 9:30-10:30 a.m. (MT) and 11:30 a.m.-Noon (MT), feature roundup footage and interviews. The windows can be accessed at Galaxy 11 (Ku), Transponder 13, Orbital slot: 91 degrees WL, Bandwidth: 36Mhz, Uplink frequency: 14260 Vertical, Downlink frequency: 11960 Horizontal. Monday, October 3, Chamberlain, 7 p.m. (CDT) – The South Dakota Board of Regents will hold a Town Meeting on South Dakota public higher education at the Chamberlain High School. Tuesday, October 4, Pierre, 8:30 a.m. (CDT) – The Water Management Board will consider several new water permit applications when the board meets at the Pierre Chamber of Commerce Building, 800 West Dakota Avenue. Among the new water permit applications for board consideration are the city of Huron in Beadle County, SD Dept. of Game, Fish and Parks reconstruction of Centerville dam in Turner County, Prairie Gold Dairy in Moody County, Mark Lermeny in Harding County and John Markus in Bennett County. Tuesday, October 4, Pierre, 11 a.m. (CDT) - The South Dakota Board of Regents will hold a teleconference media availability to announce Fall 2005 enrollment figures for the six public universities. Only 14 conference call lines are available; call (605) 697-8201 on a first-come, first-served basis to access the conference shortly before 11 a.m. Executive Director Robert T. Tuesday-Friday, October 4-7, Hot Springs and Hermosa – A documentary to be shown on the History Channel will be shot at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in Hot Springs and the Triple 7 Bison Ranch in Hermosa. Digital Ranch Productions of Los Angeles will be filming “Comanche Warrior,” the story of Quanah Parker, the last Comanche chief. Dan Gagliasso will direct the film. Ann Garry of the South Dakota Film Office pitched the locations to Gagliasso while attending a trade show in California last April. Wednesday-Thursday, October 5-6, Pierre, Noon (CDT) – The South Dakota Department of Transportation’s Pierre Region will hold its annual Snow Fighters Roadeo at the Pierre Region office. Thursday, October 6, Sisseton, 9 a.m. (CDT) - The Department of Labor's Veterans ' Representative for the Northeast area of South Dakota will be at the Sisseton Career Center, located at 205 East Oak, Federal Building, to assist veterans with job referrals, training questions, and community supportive services. Thursday-Friday, October 6-7, Yankton, 1 p.m. (CDT) - The Game, Fish and Parks Commission will hold its October meeting at JoDean's. A public hearing will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with regard to adoption, amendment and repeal of rules pertaining to the modification of Cow Creek Refuge and a correction to the number of antlerless deer licenses offered in certain West River units. Thursday-Saturday, October 6-8, Mobridge and Webster –The South Dakota Office of Tourism and visitor industry partners host writers and producers from Time4 Media, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Michigan Outdoor News, the Omaha World Herald, In-Fisherman, Nebraska Radio, the Sioux City Journal, BASS Times and Wade Bourne, a freelance writer and radio host. They will visit attractions in the Great Lakes region in preparation for articles and programs about South Dakota. Saturday-Friday, October 8-14, Western South Dakota – The South Dakota Office of Tourism and visitor industry partners host Stefan Nink, a writer with Germany’s ADAC Traveller Magazine.
