Janklow Appoints Tiede As Circuit Judge

(Pierre) -- South Dakota has a new state circuit judge.

Gov. Bill Janklow appointed Stuart L. Tiede of Sioux Falls on Thursday. Tiede will serve as one of the judges for the Second Circuit, which covers Minnehaha and Lincoln counties. He succeeds retiring Circuit Judge Richard Bogue of Canton. 

Tiede, 52, is a native of Huron and a 1975 graduate of the University of South Dakota law school. He served in the U.S. Army from August 1970 through March 1972, was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant.and served three more years in the South Dakota Army National Guard. He has been an attorney with the Sioux Falls law firm of Woods, Fuller, Shultz and Smith since 1976.

"Stuart is highly respected for being one of South Dakota's very brightest and very capable lawyers. He brings incredible integrity and knowledge of the law," Janklow said. " He's very active in the Sioux Falls community, from the Elks and Lions clubs to the Boy Scouts and his church and his children's schools."

Tiede and his wife, Pamela, have four children.
