Certified-Ready Site Task Force Named
 
Pierre, S.D. - Fifteen economic development and business leaders have been named to a task force for the new Certified-Ready Site Program, Gov. Mike Rounds announced today.
 
The task force will help set the direction for certified-ready economic development site requirements, the Governor said.
 
“It’s imperative that we have business sites that are certified as ready for immediate development,” Gov. Rounds said. “In today’s competitive economy, companies are looking for locations that are suitable for development without unnecessary delays.”
 
Those named to the new task force include: Craig Atkins, Watertown; Jeff Eckhoff, Sioux Falls, Todd Meierhenry, Sioux Falls: Toby Morris, Pierre; Julie Johnson, Aberdeen; John Overby, Viborg; Roger Porch, Philip; Matt Cerney, Wagner; George Kotti, Hot Springs; Bryan Walker, Spearfish; Kory Menken, North Sioux City; Joe Fiala, Miller; Marlene Knutson, Pierre; Dwaine Chapel, Madison and David Owen, Sioux Falls.
 
“We appreciate the willingness of these individuals to serve on this task force,” Gov. Rounds said. “Having certified-ready sites will make us more competitive and better able to market South Dakota as a great place to do business.”
 
The Certified-Ready Site program will allow state economic development officials to do much of the preparatory work ahead of time for incoming businesses, the Governor said.
 
Potential areas of certification include:
   Zoning; electrical, water, and sewer infrastructure
   Rail, air, high-volume roads, and township and county roads
   Environmental issues
   Land titling, size, configuration, utilities, quoted price, easements and rights of way.
