Gov. Rounds appoints Goldhammer to Board of Water and Natural Resources

PIERRE, S.D. Gov. Mike Rounds has appointed Paul Goldhammer, Wall, to a position on the Board of Water and Natural Resources.

“I am pleased to announce that Paul Goldhammer has accepted an appointment to serve South Dakota on the Board of Water and Natural Resources,” said Gov. Rounds. “Paul has historical and technical knowledge of water and wastewater issues gained from serving many years as the city of Wall Public Works Director. He is now retired, but remains active in water issues, currently serving as Chairman of the West River/Lyman Jones Rural Water System’s Board of Directors.”

Besides his service as a city employee in Wall, Goldhammer has a long-standing commitment to water and wastewater issues all across South Dakota, as he served as president of the South Dakota Water and Wastewater Association in 1970 and is currently an honorary member.  In addition, he served as president of the South Dakota Section of the American Water Works Association in 1969 and won its most prestigious award, the George Warren Fuller Award, in 1976 for distinguished service in the water supply field.

"I have known Paul Goldhammer for many years and he will be an outstanding addition to our Board of Water and Natural Resources," said Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Steve Pirner.  "His dedication and extensive knowledge of municipal and rural water systems will be a valuable asset to our board."

Goldhammer fills the position previously held by Kelly Wheeler of Custer.
