SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Marmon/Keystone Corporation broke ground today for its newest facility, which will be located in Sioux Falls, S.D. The 62,000 square-foot building will be an addition to the 2.1 million square feet of office and warehouse space the company currently occupies internationally.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Marmon/Keystone Corporation as a corporate citizen of South Dakota,” said Richard Benda, secretary, Department of Tourism and State Development. “Marmon/Keystone is the kind of company we like to see expand its operations in our state.”

The company, headquartered in Butler, Penn., is a leading wholesale distributor and inventories more than 15,000 sizes and grades of carbon, alloy, stainless and aluminum tabular and bar products.

“We are looking forward to expanding our services to better serve the citizens of South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska,” said Norman Gottschalk, Marmon/Keystone president. “Sioux Falls was the ideal location to meet this end.”

The Sioux Falls facility, which is expected to be completed in November, will cost between $2.5 million and $3 million to construct. Company officials expect to hire five to 10 employees.

“Marmon/Keystone’s choice of Sioux Falls as a major distribution point for this region underscores not only our central location, but the dramatic transportation advantages Sioux Falls offers,” said Dan Hindbjorgen, Sioux Falls Development Foundation vice president. “We are excited about this excellent company joining our business community.”

Marmon/Keystone operates in more than 30 locations throughout North America, Mexico and Western Europe and employs more than 1,200 people.
