Pierre, S.D. – David L. Anderson has joined the staff of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) as a Business Development Representative working with communities in the southeast portion of the state.
“Anderson’s prior experience in state government and private industry in South Dakota, coupled with his familiarity with South Dakota’s business leaders, makes him a valuable resource for our office,” said Richard Benda, secretary, Department of Tourism and State Development.
Anderson will work closely with in-state businesses, as well as be responsible for expanding job opportunities through business recruitment. “Additionally,
he will act as a liaison between business prospects and local community development officials. He will work closely with the GOED staff to put together community development proposals and financial packages,” Benda said.
Anderson, a native of Alcester, S.D., graduated from South Dakota State University in 1973 and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of the Philippines for two years. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and was named as a Certified Economic Developer (CED) in 1988 by the American Economic Development Council.
He is the father of one son – Matthew – who is serving aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, currently on deployment in the Persian Gulf.
