Gov. Rounds awards Harrold $200,000 for community improvements
PIERRE ― Gov. Mike Rounds announced that the town of Harrold has been approved for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $200,000.
“The grant will be used for Harrold’s storm water drainage project,” said Gov. Rounds. “We are pleased to be able to assist the community of Harrold with this needed repair.”
Harrold’s current storm sewer system collapsed and is no longer functioning properly. It has broken pipes, crushed cross pipes and debris-filled inlets. The project will involve replacing pipe and installing culverts, inlets, and grates, as well as other necessary additions.
“Harrold’s water system needs to be improved, and this grant is a great opportunity to get the project done,” said state Sen. Bob Gray, District 24.
The CDBG program provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Past grants have been used to make improvements to or construct community buildings, fire halls, water systems, and sewer systems.
